When bleeding brakes I would recommend using a vacuum brake bleeder - its a very fast and clean method. I use a vacuum pump with a bottle connected in series to collect the brake fluid. Obviously you have to keep an eye on the level of fluid in the container, as if it was drawn into the pump damage would result.

If you have an air compressor you can buy a vacuum brake bleeding kit - this consists of a vacuum generator, and container to collect the brake fluid.
